Federer's fans keep cushioning Federer with nice words each time he lost a match. Will that work?

Update:

Some posters sent bad remarks towards my question. I am asking whether that is a good aproach to spur the fighting spirit of our tennis great player in Federer. Don't get me wrong, I do believe that if I am crying, I don't want people to help my by crying besides me. No please, but by giving me true advice and direction on how I should buck up, regroup and reinvent myself. I don't think Federer as a great person will like that too. Federer is a man of no fear and is always inspired by no fear to face whatever challenges and obstacles in his career.

It may come across like this to you but the reality is we (Federer's fans) aren't so quick to dump on the guy when he is clearly going through a rough patch, nor are we willing to give up on him, or even believe that this is the end of his dominance, especially when his results of late does not solidly reflect this.

Roger made it to two Grandslam finals and the semis of the other this year. He had an excellent clay court season especially when the world thinks of him as second best on that surface, and yet every time he loses a match, people are acting like he is washed up or something.

Yes he has lost more matches this year than in previous years and while that is frustrating for him and his fans, I believe we all knew it would have gotten tougher for him in the years to come.

Furthermore everyone keeps acting that Nadal is going to be just as dominant as Federer was, with every match that Federer loses. I mean c'mon!!! Yes it will be nice for Nadal to get to the number one spot, (he has been number two long enough and deserves this position at some point.) However how much fun is it going to be for the sport when the world's number one keeps getting beaten every week before he even makes it to the finals of every tournament? That's what will happen with Nadal being number one, and given his past results, you know there is just no denying that this can in fact happen.

Of course we should all just take a step back and wait and see what happens. It's getting really annoying with all the stupid attacks that both Rafa fans and Roger fans keep throwing at each other!!!!

What do you mean? Are you really asking a question ... or just making a point?

Obviously it seems that your not a Federer fan ....

If you did watch Wimbledon ... the "GREAT" Nadal ... had to make some great shots to win points ... and I give him credit for that ... but dont you think he should have put him away earlier?

I think people are crowning Nadal way to early ... thats right .. he didnt win the Australian .... lets see what he does in New York ... then I might start to wonder if he is the real thing ... he has been on an incredible roll ... lets see if this is a roll or just a dominate player breaking through ... I think the jury is out ....

Well its better than criticising him and making his confidnce wrose. For gods sakes, its not the end of the world. hes still number 2 in the race and i actually take comfort in that- knowing hes not gonna fall below number 2. he had a good wimbledon and a good clay court season. its not cushioning him its bin honest. sure this yr ahsnt bin great, but hes still only lost 10 times. Soon the focus will be on Nadal and he'll start feeling the pressure. I think Roger is feeling the pressure and hes pretty mentally fatigued. I'm sure he will bounce back and im sure positivity is the way he will do it.

  • Personally I'm a Feder fan and I know he's lost , but he still is the best tennis player to me. We the fan's are not cushioning him with word's we're just not giving up on him. We still believe in him which is why we do that.
