What do you think of this name?

I really like the name Galen (pronounced Gay-len) But I'm well-aware that it's an easy target for jokes.

It's of Greek origin and it means Calm

I love names of Greek origin...but Im biased because we are Greek. ^_^ But if you are concerned about the teasing aspect...try it as a middle name. Good luck!

It's a very nice name for when the child is grown, but there's just no way they'd get out of school without being ridiculed

Don't do it. Your child has to live with that name forever. It will affect peer interactions, popularity, self-esteem, and even future job prospects. Unfortunately modern culture has ruined a lot of perfectly good names and words.

hmm it is very cute i must admit but you really do not want to put your child in a target tease situation...

How about Halen, Jalen, Calen, Kalen, Malen, Whalen, or Galron, Galvin, Galon, Galvin, Galo or Gal?

I love unique names, it sounds pretty.

He might get teased a little, but if it becomes a problem he can use his middle name (my friend Gaylord to Bobby)
