The cost of iPhone 3G has not been made public yet (as of 7/25) by Airtel or Vodafone or Apple India yet. Any answer you get would just be a guess and either of them is as good as any other.

It could vary anywhere between 10k and 28k.

It will be around Rs. 13000/-. The new model of iphone 3G priced around 200 USD, means about Rs. 8000. So with VAT and other taxes it comes to 13000

It's not for INR 13,000.Because Vodafone has bid high to aquire iPHONE 3G rights in INDIA and seeing the popularity, it's gonna launch on 2G (2.5G too) networks in mid OCTOBER with a price tag of INR 15,500 AND INR 21,500 for 8GB and 16GB models respectively.The iPHONE 3G will be launched on 3G networks in MARCH 2009.The 2GB model is currently unavailable for LAUNCH in INDIA.

It may range between 16k to 20k for 8GB and 16GB. However you wont get it directly, you should be subscribed for it either with Vodafone or Airtel.
