Somehow I have got the problem, in word, when I highlite and press delete, nothing happens. Then I notice a little doodaa down the bottom saying delete Y/N. Press Y and it deletes. How do I get rid of this minor aggravation?

You don't say what OS or what version of Word you are using.
But like trevbat I have never heard or seen that one. When ever I use highlighting and delete in a word processor, it just goes without asking for confirmation.

The deleted history is stored.. When you delete some files on your hard drive your computer just tells your hard drive that specific information is useless and leaves it there. Some software is able to reread that info. Download something that deletes it using The Gutmann Method Look up on Google something like permanent delete and you will get something. (Set it to delete your already deleted files) After that your dad will have invent something in order to see the deleted history. If you don't want to do that then the other option is for you too fill your hard drive to 100% capacity after you delete your history. That will do the trick as well.

When you get the message either click on the Y or press Y on the keyboard. Normally when you delete stuff you get that prompt just to give you a chance to stop in case you are deleting by mistkae. It's not an aggravation, but a second chance!

This is a Word option setting (Word XP (2002) and adjacent versions. Word Vista (2007) probably has something similar):
1. Click on the Tools->Options menu item.
2. Click the Edit tab.
3. Under Editing Options, check the check box next to "Typing replaces selection".
4. Click OK.
That should do it.

Well try highlighting and pressing delete on your key board. Otherwise the small aggravation isnt much. Just click/press Y. It's just making sure you really want to delete it.

I have not heard of this before but as normally hitting delete does delete (or the backspace) then I would think that there is something in the options that set this.
If it is a word problem check if it happens in wordpad, if it does it is a windows problem
