I just used Pine-Sol (since it has oil in it and oil breaks down adhesive). I had a big tea box with a giant sticker on the front that I wanted to take off. I took the sticker off and there was a layer of thick adhesive. I put pine-sol in a rag and scrubbed and it came right off, didn t stain the wood and it smells good! It looks like there was never a sticker on the box to begin with.

I've had this problem often and I've used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to get off the adhesive. It works really well without using chemicals that are harmful to the wood.

I install high end cabinetry with expensive finishes. Sometimes there are adhesive residues left from tape and labels. Goo Gone is the way to go. It is made with a citrus oil and will loosen the glue before it attacks the finish. Test it in an inconspicuous area first.

For a piece of paper with adhesive stuck on a nice piece of finished wooden furniture - First scrape all of the paper off with your fingernails. Second, to remove the residual adhesive, wet a paper towel with olive oil. Rub the olive oil on the adhesive and it will be completely removed without any damage to the finished wooden surface.

Use a laundry spot treatment. Works on everything. Takes gum out of hair, stickers off of glass, or any adhesive off of anything. Will not hurt hurt wood just clean it off and polish.
