    I remember asking just such a question in Sunday School when I was a child, along with the requisite, "Does God have a belly button since he made man in his image, etc"(I didn't ask the real question I wanted to... you probably know what it is ;). The answer I got was that, "God doesn't like people to ask those sorts of questions".

    After that, I decided that I couldn't get the answers I was looking for from other people, only myself. I do believe in a Creator. How did it come to exist? I guess you'll have to accept another shrugging of the shoulders. I don't know and it doesn't form the basis for my belief system, so I don't worry about it too much.

    You are going to have to ask God that question, no human knows the answer to that. Sorry dude.

    I think it has to do with how eternity occurs...or doesn't.

    Eternity is a concept that is difficult to explain in any terms.

    (eternity)

    I read this one near death experience once where this person said that the world there is more real than the world we now live in, and there is perfect knowledge and understanding. Here on earth, we have a process of learning, of making mistakes and thinking in linear terms. There it is not the same.

    The question cannot be asked, much less answered. The question attempts to ask "What caused God?" Causality is a time bound concept, a cause must come before an effect. Since time itself emerged with the universe, the concept of causality cannot be applied outside of the universe. Thus, any source of the universe, whether a deity or not, avoids the question of causation.

    If you are looking for some pat answer to Gods' beginnings, you will be disappointed. God is omnipotent and omnipresent. If you are to ever believe in God then you will have to accept that God is both finite and infinite.

    This is a Spiritual matter...a matter of BELIEF. Science has no proof that God doesn't exist and religion has no Proof that God does exist. It's up to you to decide.

    Jesus is the Word Incarnate, which is to say He is as eternal as Father. All creation had a beginning, God always is. There is no verb tense in the presence of God, He transcends space-time-matter and is not contained in the physical universe.

    Jesus is both the ancestor and descendant of King David. A paradox. Jesus Christ is the emergent paradox; at a point in time, the eternal, essential truth 'existed' -God among us.

    I think it is a mystry!

    Humanity is searching him since long long time but inspite expansion of knowledge and wisdom we could not resolve this mystry. Yet, when we see life, colours and specific universal Laws, we have to believe him as creator!

    May be God wants us to resolve the mystry or He will tell us on the Day of Jedgement. Let us wait!

    We cannot know where God came from but without him we would not be here. Obviously he is alive and strong and intelligent beyond anything we can begin to understand. We don't know and the Bible doesn't tell us this. We will probably find out in heaven. Let Jesus come into your heart and he will (Rev. 3:20).

    YUSUFALI: Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;

    112.002

    YUSUFALI: Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;

    112.003

    YUSUFALI: He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;

    YUSUFALI: And there is none like unto Him.

    024.035

    YUSUFALI: Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star: Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! Allah doth guide whom He will to His Light: Allah doth set forth Parables for men: and Allah doth know all things.

    024.036

    YUSUFALI: (Lit is such a Light) in houses, which Allah hath permitted to be raised to honour; for the celebration, in them, of His name: In them is He glorified in the mornings and in the evenings, (again and again),-

    002.255

    YUSUFALI: Allah! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).

    002.256

    YUSUFALI: Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.

    Things all have a starting/beginning point. Something, someone, had to have put things into motion. That something and someone is God.

    It's hard for the human mind to comprehend, but God has always been there. God is without beginning and without ending.
