Do you find it odd in Avatar the last Airbender that?
All avatars before aang: Kuruk, Kyoshi, and Yangchen look younger than Avatar Roku (especially Kyoshi)?
Has anybody else noticed that only Roku out of these avatars have been shown in his "elder" form but all others are either quite young looking compared to the ages they died (Avatar Kyoshi died at 240 but she looks like in her late 20s to 40s (its hard to say because of the paint mask.)

I often think about this exact same thing when shows show people as ghosts or spirits, or like in star wars how ben kenobi is an old man in his blue spirit form...
why dont ghots/spirits/avatar forms ever look like they did at their best? I'm sure for movies its so we recognize who the ghost is....
Maybe thats what avatar is trying to do, Kyoshi remembers herself at his peak and appears that way?
It's a really good philosophical questions though....

They didn't want to change the looks of the previous avatars because it would confuse a number of viewers(and kids) and the writers wouldn't know or have enough time to explain the face change. Its also pretty irrelevant seeing that Aang was looking for answers rather than wondering why one was older than the other.
