There were bugs in my chocolate rolos.?
I purchased a pack of rolos from a store, I did not eat them right away but when I did open them the chocolate was not smooth it was like shaving off the candy all inthe pack, I didn't think anything of it I thought it was still edible. I looked at each piece as I ate it as I got midway through the pack I picked up another candy and there were bugs in the candy. I immediately threw them on the ground and threw up. How could these bugs have gotten in there? Is it possible for them to have grown in there I was really grossed out.

The same thing has happened to me with Hershey Kisses! I saw the little shavings too, but I just ignored it and ate half the bag. Then I realized that there were holes in the wrapping, and to my horror, there were little white larvae inside the chocolate... I've been paranoid about bugs in my chocolate ever since. From what I gather, when those white larvae grow, they become tiny brown bugs (about 2 mm long) that fly relatively slow, and they lay their eggs in chocolate, marshmallows, or any other foods with high sugar content. It is possible that the larvae feed on it and get their energy from sucrose. If you buy chocolate again, make sure that you store it in a refrigerator and that it is sealed tightly to make sure that bugs cannot get in it. Hope this helps!

Happens all the time. Chocolate sits on a store shelf too long.

They were very old. Bring them back to the store and get your money back and if they won't give it to you call the company who made them and complain. I would do both. That is gross.

Contact the manufacturer and tell them the retailer that sold them to you. It is possible that they are just really really old.
