OK....it's 11:10 pm and someone just rang my front door bell, no one was there, I live alone, what do I do??

Do you have someone living with you? Well if you do then I have the right answer... I think. Put your dog on a leash and hold him seven or so feet away from the door. Have the other person walk outside and ring the doorbell. If your dog barks or tries to bark, turn him/her around, make eye contact, and sternly say "NO". Every time he/she doesn't bark, reward him/her with a treat and praise and affection. If you do this 5 to 10 minutes every day for a week, you could see a slight to HUGE improvement. If you barely see any, repeat the process or buy a muzzle then repeat the process this time with a muzzle. It should help signal the dog that he can't bark. Hopefully it should help.

Make sure all doors and windows are locked make sure phone and cell phone work, if really worried call the police, otherwise, leave light on and yes if you have a gun sleep with it. Also, this something my father taught me, make sure all your curtains are closed at night and that no one can see in your house, go outside and look to be sure. He was a police officer. Have done this my whole life.

yeah. probably just some kids. but to be on the safe side, don't make a lot of noise, go near any windows, and yeah, have the gun at least 15 ft away from you.

I agree with the first answer. Otherwise, bring a gun/machete to bed and lock your doors and windows. Or maybe it's just the UPS guy making a late delivery or something . =]
