Have you been to Haleakala National Park lookout on Maui?

I booked a tour to Haleakala and at first I was very excited I am going there. But after I read the travel advisory that you may experience difficult breathing at such a high altitude I was concerned.

I live on sea level and I have not been at such a high altitude. If you have been up there please share your experience with me and let me know is it that bad?

Thanks

Don't worry. I've been to Haleakala before and the only difference I felt was that it was colder up there than on sea level. But I could breathe fine. See here for some more Haleakala info: http://www.to-hawaii.com/maui/attractions/haleakal...

I took one of their tours once where they cart you up the mountain in a van and give you a bike to ride down. I think they were in Paia. I had no trouble breathing at all nor did I notice anyone else having trouble. it was not even mentioned as any kind of advisory.

my advice would be to wear some warmer clothing that you can layer as it is about 30 degrees colder up there. if you are riding down on a bike you can remove layers as it gets warmer. I highly recommend going as it is beautiful up there. have fun on maui!

I have been and is is great. The breathing is not a problem at all. The view really is amazing. There is a bike down tour. You can read more about it on

No problem. Just don't expect to run and jump around without having to breathe a little harder. Take it slow....
