Does transsexualism contradict queer theory?
A lot of non-TS LGB and TG people treat gender as a performance. I'm inclined to agree about gender roles, but must disagree about gender identity/brain sex. The two are very different things.
Of course, there is no one trans experience. We each have our own experiences. We each feel gender dysphoria slightly differently and deal with it slightly differently.
For the record, I am a TS woman (MtF). I never had any interest in being feminine (a set of gender roles) (or in being masculine for that matter). I just feel the ever-present need to become a complete woman (my gender identity).
So it's not about gender roles/gender performances, like some people suggest.
And it's not about sexual orientation either. No offense, but people keep connecting both gender and trans issues with sexual orientation, when they have nothing to do with each other.

Well hon, look at it this way.
I'm a girl and my body is now discovering it.Why should you disagree?.I can possibly understand you never feeling it,but to chastise. It takes a well educated therapist to understand us (GID Knowledgeable).Ya see the brain is not one size fits all scenario. Each of us are different,so I may not understand you.
Regardless of where we fit in life each one is unique.Perhaps just looking at us as another human being with wants, needs, feelings is all you need.

I believe that the sexual identity and orientation are two different subjects completely.
One deals with how one perceives themselves, being either male or female, remember this isn't physically it's emotionally.
The other of course deals with attraction to either Male or Female, both or otherwise (hermaphrodites etc...)
For instance I have a Trans-Lesbian friend, she is a Male to Female transsexual who is in a relationship with a woman.
