Is anyone aware of what a "Well regulated militia" is?
Having read articals of militia is anyone aware that militias were citizen soldiers that were responsible for their own supply and upkeep- read- They supplied their own weaponry, ammunition, food, and transportation.

Thats the meaning of "militia". A group of armed citizens.
At the time, the phrase "well regulated" meant well equipped.

Of course, thats what the entire controversy was about when dealing with the 2nd amendment.
However it also had a 2nd meaning, to protect us from the government.
Besides the Supreme Court has ruled the 2nd amendment applies to average citizens as well, so its no longer an issue (it shouldn't be) because the Supreme Court has the final say on amendments and laws.

Yes... aware of what it was INTENDED as, the TIME at which it was written, and the latter interpretations by the Supreme Court.
DO remember that the ARMY, NAVY, and Marines were disestablished after the Revolution... Congress wouldn't fund them and were afraid of a "professional armed force".
I'm a gun owner... and DO support serious restrictions on handguns and automatic weapons.

Yes, and the constitution also makes a clear distinction between the militia and the people, they're not one and the same.

When the term was written, our young Nation depended upon volunteers, who were expected to be available when called upon.
