Please DON'T lie about your age on the SL site. There are some very adult themes there and the US government have put lots of pressure on the makers of SL to prevent minors from getting in to SL and to weed out the ones who are already there.
When I was running a photography business in SL, I had a girl come to me who wanted to model. She was forever getting into and out of relationships with different guys. She would marry a guy in SL one week and divorce him the next week. One thing you may not be aware of is that there is a form of sex in SL called cybering. It's not the only thing that happens in SL - you need never get involved with sex in SL if you choose not to. She was having cyber sex with a lot of guys in SL. There was something very wrong about her behaviour - it just didn't seem very adult and a couple of us managed to find the truth. She was only 14, but had been telling everyone she was 24. Some of the guys she was having cyber sex with were in their 20s and 30s. We pointed out to her that if the authorities where these guys lived found out about this, they could be branded as paedophiles for what they were doing - even though they believed she was 24. My friend was a lot harder on her than I was. She has a daughter just a little younger and she said that if she discovered her daughter doing something like this she would be so dissapointed with her and she would never trust her to use a computer unsupervised again. The 14 year old girl agreed to leave adult SL and went to Teen SL instead. She keeps in touch with us regularly and she's happier in teen SL where she feels there is no pressure to engage in cyber sex activities. And this is the real crux of the matter. My friends and myself are old enough to say no to sexual advances in SL, but at 14, she thought she had to get involved in this to try to make it seem like she was old enought to really be there. This was all well over a year ago, so she's now 16. In two years she will be back in adult SL where she can either use her teen SL avatar which will transfer to adult SL when she's 18, or she can go back to playing her old avatar which lies dormant in adult SL for now. She has friends her own age in teen SL and she has more fun with them because they share the same interests.
To join Teen SL you have to be between 13 to 17. You must have either a mobile phone or use a PayPal account to prove your identity and to get your authorisation code to log in.
One last thing. If you decide to sneak into adult SL and you get caught, you will be banned from both adult and teen SL for life. It's not worth the risk. Adult SL will still be here when you reach 18.

Neither should be - and I don't know how he was able to buy it without you being there as a parent. Maybe it depends upon where you are by how strict the ratings are - from Wikipedia - "It was believed that the game would be given an ESRB rating of T, to match the show's usual rating of [TV-14]. However, it was actually rated M for its disturbing humor, dialogue and partial nudity. It was also given a PEGI rating of 18+ for violence, profanity and drug abuse." Mom, more due diligence .....
