Help with injured horny toad lizard?

During my cat's late afternoon patrol, she managed to catch a horny toad lizard. I took it from her when I saw the animal, but she had already hurt it. The lizard has a pretty good cut on it's side, that I cleaned up and applied dermabond to seal the wound.

I think that horny toad lizards are threatened or endangered, and I would like to get him/her well before I release it. Problem is, I have no clue how to take care of a lizard. As a CCRN my expertise lies in the medical field, not reptile care.

So what do I do? What do I feed it? Do I need to get it a heat lamp or something similar during its recovery? Help!

I also think Horny Toads may be threatened or endangered, which means you should call the Department of Wildlife in your state(Just google "YOUR STATE Department of Wildlife"). Or you could look in the phonebook for Wildlife Rescue.

Either way, I'm sure you'll be able to find a professional willing to take care of it(A lot of times rescues will come pick up the animal, you wouldn't have to bring it to them), or give you advice to take care of it.

do u mean a horned toad or a horned lizard.

a horned toad is an amphibian and a horned lizard is a reptile . look i mean this in the least cruel way possible but u have no idea what your doing not a clue it would be best to either A: release the animal back into the wild B: take it to a reptile rescue/santuary/local keeper/zoo where they can care for it correctly.

if these are endangered then what your doing is probably illegal as in most places your not aloud to keep wild endanagered species.

LOL! you recognize why they not promote them? it is because they actually eat stay ants and there aren't any commerically created ants. in case you do purchase one (and they are continuously wild stuck) it's going to frequently be sickly, starved and would have a short existence span. For awhile the horned lizard develop right into a commonplace purchase until eventually human beings stated they couldn't be saved alive in captive situations very lengthy on account that they actually eat ants. in case you get one it is going to likely be money wasted.
