The Bay Side of the Cape is good for kids, Sandwich, Barnstable, Grey's Beach in Yarmouth, off 6A, and def Mayflower in Dennis.. it's hard to say when you just say the cape area.(there's lots of areas!!)..Kalmus in Hyannis is known for windsurfing, so not the best for little ones, on the outer Cape, esp the National Seashore (on the ocean) the waves can get pretty fierce..In the Mid Cape Area, Dowses Beach, in Osterville, is great for kids, lots of tidal pools,..easy access, Craigville is fun for shells and sand....It really depends on where you are going on Cape Cod to determine what the best beach is, esp for a 4 yr old..

Source(s): live on cape cod...have brought many a 4 yr old to the beach down here.(esp my 3 kids who are well over 4)..sorry can't give info on beaches off Cape..:)

Well I have a 4 year old and take her to Nantasket in Hull and she loves it ..lots of tidal pools and other children. The end by the bathhouse is the best spot. Also in Dennis down the Cape Mayflower beach is beautiful and also has tons of sand and tidal pools like Nantasket does.

Mayflower beach in Dennis, MA is the best beach in MA for kids. At low tide the ocean goes out for miles without getting too deep and there are little pools that kids can dig for shells, sand dollars, and skim board in. It is beautiful and the water tends to be really warm, no waves or sea weed either. It also has amazing sand and is not rocky at all. Have fun.

The beaches on the Nantucket Sound (south) side of the Cape west of Bass River have generally gentle waves and warmer water. Kalmus Park and Veteran's beaches, both in Hyannis are good.

OMG the best beach MA has to offer has to be salsbury beach. It is really close to New Hampshire. Its very clean. Lots of cool shells. GOOD WAVES !! I think it has a shack where you can look at marine life. And i think there also is like a camp there too. Nice covered pavillion with picnic tables, grills avaliable and horse shoes game.

    LOVED THIS BEACH !!

Definitely bayside. Low tide is perfect for little ones with pools to play in and lots of little critters to see. Little tiny fish will swim around her - and you know where the bottom is when the tide comes in :)
