How to fix Windows Fax Console?

My Fax Console was working just fine until last Friday. I tried it again today, and it's still the same problem: starts up but then says "Refreshing" on the bottom status bar. Doesn't do anything else. I looked online for solutions and the best thing to do seemed to be to remove the component, reboot the computer, then reinstall the component.

I tried that--twice. When I try to open Fax Console, it takes forever. Then I can't do anything because it says that no fax printer has been installed. When I try to install a fax printer, I can't get it to recognize any drivers on our HP driver disk. Then it finally is okay that a printer is installed, but says all are inaccessible.

I need to get this fax to work. But how?

Update:

I removed the Fax option, then followed everything as indicated here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en%... There was no Fax Printer after I had removed the Fax Components. The Fax Configuration Wizard doesn't come up--it eventually gets to the Fax Console, which goes back to saying Refreshing on the bottom and eventually says All fax printers are inaccessible. Once it gives that, I can click on Configure Fax in tools, but it then gives me A connection to the fax server cannot be made.

This was all working just fine early last week! ARGH.

Update 2:

I tried some more things and got different error messages and looked them up online. One thing led me to check the services box and see if fax was enabled. It was--but opening fax showed it was dependent on some other services and one of THOSE had been disabled--Telephony. Once that was in place, reopening Fax Console brought me to the Fax Configuration Wizard.

In control panel, there is the printers icon. Open that window to check to see if you have any multiple (duplicate) Fax Printers installed.
