what should i order?

i'm fairly new to this site and reading through the answers to some the questions posted here, i am beginning to wonder how much surfing knowledge/experience some people have here.

heres my question: i am 6' tall, 185 lbs, well above average skill, and i'm preparing to order boards for my yearly winter trip. i am ordering 3 more boards-- a mini-gun, a 6'3" for chest to head high waves with moderate power, and one more-----what should it be? i, of course, already know what i'm getting---i just want to see how much you guys could really help someone with this question.

i want everything from length to width, rocker to vee/concave, also which tail. this board will be for 6 to 10' barrels.

what should i order?

Update:

oh yeah---no cut and paste either.

Update 2:

ammo-i'm really going (just to CR though). working with my shaper i've learned tons about board design and glassing--i figured every custom board rider would have too--no offense intended.

kim-you're actually super close to what i'm getting, your vee is off though. i'm going forward vee w/double concave--swallow tall, only because they look good. 6'6"; 19.25" pretty meaty through the middle though.

Update 3:

john-dont you have a job? a trip to CR and a few boards isnt THAT much.

Sounds like you might have 6-10' barrels covered with your mini-gun although you didn't give dimensions. If not, maybe something in the 6'7" range, single to double with a light tail vee. I'd go with a rounded pin to add rail length, although the slight vee will also add length. Hefty nose rocker, natural rocker through the mid, slight tail kick. Hard rails to about 18" from the tail, tucked rails to about 18" from the nose, 50/50 forward of that. Width I'm not so sure about but on a board that long I figure it would run about 18 1/2 to maybe 19. Thickness and glass schedule I will leave to you; how much float to you like and how much of a beating do you want it to take? I glass my boards heavy 'cause I want them to last.

Now, having no use for board like that where I live I could be completely off. To be honest if I really wanted to fool you I could probably just go look up what AI rides for Indo since he's about your size, although he would undoubtedly ride something shorter, so I'd just add a little.

FYI, I don't normally make specific board suggestions online since people tend to not really be honest with their skill levels and they are always better served going and sitting down with a shaper. But you asked for it, so there you go. How'd I do.

Glad I was close. Too be honest it is a really hard question to answer because it depends upon where you're surfing. A board for 6-10 foot pip is not gonna look like a board for 6-10 foot CR, although it might look like a board for Puerto Escondido.

Have fun on your trip. I promise not to hate, although I might be jealous. I'm guessing you're going to Playa Hermosa by your wave description.

Sorry, AE, I'm just a surfer and only answer questions that I know the answer to. I have always left the dimensions and rocker up to my shaper, Bruce Grimes. I think the only true replies you will get to your Q will be from shapers, or John F. He's been surfing with Fred Flintstone. If you want to know about Florida waves, spots, or board types, I'll be glad to respond. Are you really taking a surf trip, or was that the bait?

Yo, if you have enough money to order three boards for your 'winter trip', why don't you just send me a plane ticket, and I'll design the suckers for ya. I bought three boards in five years, and almost ended up in divorce Court!

By the way, this is why guys make money designing and shaping boards, not folks rapping on line.

What should you order? How about a 6'6" humility, or a 5'8" civility, they are two things that you don't have in your quiver, a$$hole.

In response to your other question- sorry, i thought you already knew the answer....

Busting a fcs fin plug is rare unless you run into the sand or the plug was not inserted right. I think you will be fine just be careful riding in shallow conditions.
