I am 12 weeks pregnant and was wondering why the hearbeat was found all the way on my left side?
The Nurse found a strong heartbeat today, but i noticed the doppler thing was all the way over ( above my pelvis) almost by my hip.....where is the baby usually located at this time?

Not only does it depend on how the baby lies, but also where your placenta lies. The doppler picks up sound waves, which can be deflected by internal structures, muscle, and fat. The side they find the heartbeat isn't necessarily the side where the baby is lying, it's just where the soundwave was most easily heard.

At 12 weeks even though you can't feel it, baby is moving around like crazy in your uterus. Your uterus is a little smaller than a small melon so baby has lots of places to move. Don't worry, it's perfectly normal for the little hopper to be moving around and to find the heartbeat in different places other than directly in the middle.

This totally varies, depending on where the fetus implanted. As long as you do hear a strong heartbeat, it doesn't matter where it implanted - that's just where the cord will come from, but once the baby is bigger, it'll settle into the center of the uterus. Congrats!

That just means that the baby was on your left side. Where ever his/her heart was is where they have to put the monitor. It is amazing how much they can move around. You will see once you start to feel the baby move around a bunch. It is crazy how active they are. Congrats and I wish you luck!

that is just where the baby is positioning. I rememver one time the dr. had to roll me on my side and get the heart rate on my side, almost in lower back area. But that is normal.

it just depends....i have a home one and when i was twelve week she would move from my left hip to my right hip and in the middle too...but at home and at the doctors she was usually by a hip.

Because that's where the baby was in your uterus, and that's where she needed to move it based on which way the baby was facing.

Anywhere around your pelvic bone is normal for this stage. They're moving around like crazy in there so it's not unusual for them to be in different places.
