It is a Spiny Soft-shelled turtle.

They are EXTREMELY challenging captives. They require cooler temps than most turtles, and are highly prone to fungal infections.

It's best chance of survival would be for you to release it in the water near where you found it.

it is a baby softshell, for now you can put it in a rubbermaid container( 10+ gallons). Add in clean warm water about halfway. Since it is a softshell they require low water conditions, because they dont swim well. Keep the water warm with a baskin light ( at 75-78F) Put in a rock for basking. Since they need uvb as well put it in the sun w some shade for 3-4 hours. Feed it crickets, mealworms, bloodworms, shrimp... since you arent going to keep it i suggest finding a good home for the turtle, make sure they are responsible owners, you shouldnt have to tell them how to take care of the turtle, they should know.
