Ugh!!! It's a STYLE,people, not a frame of mind. All the emos I know are happy, friendly individuals. They don't cut, nor do they do drugs. They're well-adjusted kids!!!

Have you heard about the revolts down in Mexico??? They call it the 'anti-emo' movement. *rolls eyes*

Sad, really. It's a style. We were CLOTHES that you buy. it's on the outside. Why can't anyone see that???? It doesn't mean anything about our personalitys. It's how we dress. Why does clothes even matter??? :'(

It's true, a lot of them do it for attention. I'm not EMO emo, but I have had the feelings. But Emo isn't a style, really, its more a frame of mind. It is the arrogance of youth. This is my perception, based on why I have been depressed in the past (depression-emo not the same thing. often related, not the same)

They feel rejected by their peers and society at large. They feel alone, like they have all these feelings and emotions, and that there is no one else like them, like they are outsiders. They feel misunderstood, they are so lonely and in so much pain, that is usually why they kill themselves. That, or life has no meaning anymore. It's get up, get dressed, go to school, come home, do homework, go to bed, repeat.

Basically it's "I'm so alone, nobody understands me. Everybody hates me. I'm so alone. Getting up everyday hurts so much. It's too much. I just want it all to go away"

But, you must understand, I'm refering to the more "hard-core" emo kids. Most kids who are emo just have some of the symptoms, or they like the style and the idea of "life is pain and loneliness" because they think it's cool.

It differs with everyone.

Emo people are just posers. I'd expect some being "emo" at 12 because at that point, you're trying to fit it. About 95% of teens who are emo now will not be emo in 10 years because they grew up and realized how that's a stupid way to get attention and "fit it".

hahahaha! you talk about emo as if it were down-syndrome. It's just a fad, coupled with a way to get attention(depression=pity=attention). Those type of people think they're deep, lost, and noncomformists. I've noticed that the more educated people get, the less goth/emo they become. But i don't hate emos either, because who else would we make fun of?!

some people call themself emo because they like the music what they called ''emo genre'' and they like the hair style and clothes,,,

some people are depressed and are cutting themself and call themself emo because they want attention...but I think that whole emo thing is just a label...

I personally think its almost conformity to other kids who have the same feelings. There is a good south park episode about it.
