The Brown Cow [self-made]
Need some help deciding on a title for my novel? :o?
Sooo, I'm writing a book. No duh. I usually don't have a problem with titles, but this one's a lil difficult. :L
My own two choices are 'Jonny On Fire' and 'Mockangels'. Which one would be best?? If you have any other suggestions that'd be great too. :]
Here's a rough summary of the novel :o:
Alright, there's this kid named Jonny from Seaham, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. He comes home from school one day, and HOLY CRAP there's two winged guardians drinking tea in his kitchen. They tell him that his MIA father was Michael (THE Michael) and his mother was kidnapped by demons (that'll probably change, it sounds really juvenile LOL P:). In order to get her back, he has to participate in a trial against his eleven half-brothers, in order to receive the flaming sword and his own divine blood right.
Blah blah blah! :D
It's pretty lighthearted, considering it's all about fallen angels and stuff. Jonny escapes from his Heaven, learning that his mother actually had her memory wiped and placed with a fake family of golems, and nobody he knew remembers him, except a homeless guy he used to buy coffee on Sunday afternoons. The angels were lying, yaddayaddayadda, etc. etc.
Any thoughts? D;
2 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoBreaking the magic to the main character..?
We all know how most urban fantasies go: the MC is just chilling, goin' along with whatever, when BAM! A flying frigging FAERIE just jumps out at her/him and tells her/him, DAMN! You're actually the heir to the magical kingdom of Gandelphia, AND, to top it all off, you're the prophetic bearer of the mythical sword of Zanzibar! :O
My question is... how do I get from point A to point B? My protagonist's mother was kidnapped, and because he's a bit on the slow side he needs a little nudge to let him know she wasn't kidnapped by a human being. I'm not quite sure how to do that, though -- does he just wake up one morning and discover a few winged guardians sipping coffee in his kitchen, or what?
Anyone with any knowledge on this stuff, help mee please. :3
3 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoNew title, need some help? :o?
Okay. So, my novel is currently titled Going Endside. It's urban fantasy (LOL my faaaavourite genre ;D). I really want a new title for it, because, let's face it, Going Endside isn't half as kickass as the actual manuscript is.
The story's about a sixteen year-old guy who lives in Topeka, Kansas. He runs with gangs, and because of his Jersey accent they've nicknamed him Jersey (...). One night, Jersey and his friends are cornered by a rival gang, and after a brutal shootout, Jersey's running for his life with a promise to keep.
He finds himself slipping through Targes Square, a windy, twisty neighbourhood that's centuries old. As he slides into the final turn to safety, he realises he's not in Kansas anymore...
Jersey's slipped through to the Endside, where white-clad Phasers chase underground drug lords and grimy ghetto rats who deal in a mysterious substance called fog. Jersey made a promise to a dead man, and he has every intention to keep it. Along with Orson, the awkward courier for the local gang, Margaret, the assassin, and Saul, the blind Seer, they make their way through the Uncharted Woods to find the end of the Endside, and -- hopefully -- a way Outside.
That's not the actual pitch, just a rough outline of the major occurences in the novel. So, ya, it makes me look immature and uncool. WHAT'S NEW.
Hit me, B&A. I need some coolbeans titles.

So here I am, killing time and procrastinating. What's a song, book, poem, website, movie or other form of expression that you find really inspirational? What inspires you the most?
6 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoPlease, please help. Pain during sex after hymenectomy..?
Okay. So. AWKWARDNESS ASIDE.
I had a shredded hymen that had to be removed about ten months ago (it had become that way due to tampon use, strenuous exercise, etc.). But, when I had sex for the first time (two weeks ago), it was incredibly painful -- felt like stretching but a billion times worse. The second time it was even worse. Is this normal, and does it ever go away??
Thankies~

She's about sixty-ish, with iron gray hair, gray eyes, and pale skin. She's a faerie. Her original name (like a standin) was Madam Whitesnake, but I knew that had to be changed at some point. Any ideas?

5 AnswersSwimming & Diving1 decade agoSpiritually fuming, why is a pro-life viewpoint on abortion accepted, but when you're PRO-CHOICE...?
... you're immediately a social pariah?
People in my school are permitted to discuss abortion extensively (by the teacher, and from a pro-life view), but when myself a my friend begin a talking about our pro-choice standpoint, we are told to either
a) leave the room
or
b) research abortion more extensively, because clearly we "know nothing about it."
WTF. I mean, come on. That's retarded.
