Can you take the Cadillac converters off of a 2003 F-150 Ford truck and it still run?

Yes, but i would just put hi-flow units if you have a cat back exhaust. The converters use types consist of a ceramic structure coated with a metal catalyst, usually platinum, rhodium and/or palladium. The idea is to create a structure that exposes the maximum surface area of catalyst to the exhaust stream, while also minimizing the amount of catalyst required, as the materials are extremely expensive. Some of the newest converters have even started to use gold mixed with the more traditional catalysts. Gold is cheaper than the other materials and could increase oxidation, the chemical reaction that reduces pollutants, by up to 40 percent. the metals can get dirty with oil or another foreign matter and burn together and make a hard piece when they go bad. you can temporary take the cats off and take a broom handle and knock the clumps out, but by doing so you will cause a lot of damage to the environment.

They are catalitic converters and have nothing to do with Cadillacs- except that they are on them, too. To answer your question, no.The computers in the truck will not work right without the converters. I don't see any advantage to removing it (or them, as the case may be), but all cars that have computers in them (just about every one since the early to mid 80's) have oxygen sensors that can tell the computer that something is wrong if the converter is gone.

Cadillac does not make converters for ford. Taking off willl not only make you sick from exhaust vapors but will also run like sh-t and not give correct air/fuel ratio as it will affect computer. you will get less MPGand car will run rough. Ab free flow converter is only 100.00 bucks so get it and you will not lose any power and accomplish whatever you set out to do whichi have no idea since you will not get better MPG or performance-just louder sound which ifthis is reason get different muffler.

yes your car will run. But it would NEVER pass emission and you have to be sniffing the poisonous gas yourself.
