Got a favorite Grateful Dead / Jerry Garcia song?

Today is Jerry's birthday ~ he would have been 66...

Update:

That's okay, Wire & String ~ it's all good.

Update 2:

That's okay, too, Sabes ~ to each their own :-)

Update 3:

Here's my other favorite ~ it's a CSN&Y song, but Jerry leads it off with the sweetest pedal steel guitar evah....

happy birthday jerry we miss you!!!!....of course i do my favorite grateful dead song is scarlet begonias but i love the CD grateful dawg with jerry and david grisman that version of friend of the devil is the best version their is in my opinion...you know i've seen every form of the remaining members of the grateful dead bands (phil lesh & friends, bob weir and ratdog, the other ones, etc.) but never had the chance to see Jerry...but i have over 50 bootlegs of live concerts from the grateful dead to cover what i'll never be able to experience

Hey now! I guess I got the GD/JGB questions going today! Good!!

A few of my faves are:

Candyman (IMO a most personal tune from Jerry singing about his addiction)

    Black Peter

    Stella Blue

Tore Up Over You (always, always gets me dancin!)

    Deal

Tangled Up In Blue (love how up-beat he does this Dylan song on the JGB live cd)

Eyes of the World (one of my faves live & outside)

    U.S. Blues

    Lazy Lightning

    Black Muddy River

Unfortunately, if I never heard Truckin, Casey Jones, Touch of Gray or Shakedown Street again, it wouldn't be too soon. Way overplayed and people think these are the only songs the GD ever did.

Thanks for sticking with me today Wire & String...you are da man!

    Hey Shades

my all time favorite Dead song is a live version of Let it Grow that featured Donna Gochaeux (spelling) but just for Jerry I will go with Ripple.

Im surprised no one has mentioned Jack Straw or Wharf Rat. Those are two of my faves and those songs are sick. I also like Sugar Magnolia, Me and Bobby Mcgee (even though it's a cover), Terrapin Station, Playin in the Band, St Stephen, Cumberland Blues...

Come on people Truckin, Touch of Gray and Casey Jones are the most overrated songs ever but whatever everyone has their own opinions.

Missed the B-day! Damn...I'll say Cream Puff War since Jerry wrote the music AND lyrics to that one.
