A lot of people I know who live in Beijing are getting out of the country during the Olympics. They have no reason why, but they think like you do. They're iffy and they don't want to be there if something bad does happen.

I pray that the entire olympics goes on without something tragic happening. My fear is that it is such a world encompassing event makes it such a tempting target for terrorists.

Barring that, the other fear is that the more radical dissidents in China may seek this opportunity to get their voices heard on an international scale as well.

    I pray and hope.

No,I don't.Even today, the IOC has been talking about cancelling these games because of the pollution in Peking. The Chinese have now renaged on most of the promises made when they were awarded the 2008 olympics. The games should be boycotted not just for the broken promises but, also for the sake of the athletes health. The games have been a disaster from the start untill today. The biggest disaster, being the forced relocation,of hundreds of thousands of people from their ancestrall homes in Peking and they were not compensated either. It is a disgrace.

The Olympics are going to be a joke. First, no one cares as much as in the Jim McKay days. Second, China has a terrible human rights reputation and they haven't done much to fix that. Third, we won't see the real China except for an overcrowded, dirty and awkward city trying to host a first class international event.

Won't happen and it won't be safe.

I do. People from the Western world likes a terrorist bombing from the Islamic terrorist to happen but it wouldn't.

Too bad it wouldn't be a Jewish kidnapping in the Munich Games or a terrorist bombing in the Atlanta Games.

Western folks: you can kiss your superstitions in the drain!!!
