My tv turns on when my dvr starts recording
My tv turns on when my dvr starts recording something I have programmed. Is it supposed to do this or am I doing something wrong?

Most likely when you turn your tv off, your really just turning your DVR off putting your tv in a standby mode. When your schedueled program comes on to record, your DVR will turn on, thus wakeing your TV from it's standby Slumber.
Hope this Helps

there are two possibilities
1. remote macros- depending on the remote you have, you may have enabled a remote macro that turns both tv and DVR on, to to test, cover the IR window on the TV with black tape and try to record something, read your remote manual for working with macros.
2. IR blaster- your reciever may have an IR blaster enabled that is turning the TV on on remote, check the settings on the reciever to check that the IR blaster is not enabled.

the macro answer above me is correct, it just reminded me of my first tivo, the remote control would turn our a/c on or off when you hit the buttons in the right order, we thought the a/c was haunted ,then several weeks later, laughed for hours upon discovering that the tivo remote was the culprit
