I'm a 15 year old male. I just took an online IQ test, and I scored a 119, is that any good?

The IQ test said it was made for people 18 years or older. Is age a factor in determining your IQ? Oh, i'm currently attending high school if that helps.

Update:

thanks for the answers everyone, I appreciate it. And for those of you who have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. Thanks again

Your IQ isn't supposed to change during your life, so it shouldn't matter how old you are. And internet IQ tests are just for fun - they aren't accurate. They tend to give inflated scores - they're trying to sell you something, after all. While 119 would be a great IQ on an official test, no online test is considered anywhere near as good as an official test.

Yes, there is a slight age factor in determining your IQ. Since you're younger than what you said when you took it, it generally means your IQ is a little bit higher.

119 isn't bad at all, but online IQ tests aren't too accurate, either. It's probably on the higher side of what is considered average. If it has the ability, you should check your score again other peoples', though that's not really a big indication either, seeing as pretty much anyone can get on the internet and take it, and most likely it's people who expect high scores that are seeking those types of tests.

It means you take IQ tests well. They are all relative. Are you in Gifted & Talented (or your school's version of advanced placement) programs at school? Generally, schools test your IQ for consideration in AP classes. If you have been placed in these, then your IQ is probably 130+, and these tests are much more accurate than tests you take online. Take more than one test online to see how you fare & take an average. If you are averaging in the 150s over and over through different testing, then I would recommend you sign up to take a Mensa test in your area. This test will give you an accurate view of your IQ. I score very high on IQ tests, but all that means is that I can figure out puzzles at a faster & more accurate rate than the average person. My husband doesn't score as high on IQ tests, but he can whoop my tail in any trivia game. Some people retain knowledge and facts... others can manipulate facts & knowledge to come to conclusions. IQ is a measurement of your ability to process facts & puzzles. Notice how there were a lot of visual shape questions... if, thens... analogies & number patterns. There is not a measure in the IQ tests for actual knowledge you have retained. So, what does it all mean?? You are probably a good person to have around if stranded on an island to help hatch a plan for rescue, but not necessarily the most knowledgeble person in the room.

seriously! Those IQ tests that you do online are not true. Although each person has an approximate IQ in their life, the internet quiz is not something that you should be relying on to tell yoou. If you want to find out your IQ maybe go to a proffesional because you never know the stupid gimics on the computer. Also thught that I would let you know if the IQ test was a popup... do'nt do it again because it has a high chance of giving your computer a virus and these can be hard to fix!!! I sugest that if this was the case, get a popup blocker. It's so handy.....

I second the fact that online IQ tests aren't very accurate, but they can sometimes tell you about some of your strengths. IQ is a very hard thing to measure, because their is such a variety if strengths and weaknesses in people. The only thing you can tell from that score is that you are good at whatever type of questions were asked.

About age, it really shouldn't matter how old you are, unless it tested general knowledge in which case an older person who has experienced more would have an advantage.

People, IQ is not age-dependent because the tests used to measure it are age and gender-adjusted. Obviously, you would not apply the same test to a toddler and to a teenager. Incidentally, the gender adjustment means that a man must score better on these tests than a woman in order to get the same IQ.

And no, IQ tests do not measure how knowledgeable a person is. Moreover, as defined, 100 is the average score.

The IQ test is to test how well you think in a variety of different ways (practical reasoning etc), however online tests are not the official test and are not accurate...and you really need to focus on the test, not be msn ing at the same time as well.

119 is fairly good on an accurate test.

I got 134 on an online one, but thats pretty high, so i wouldnt claim it unless i took a real one.

u took an inaccurate test, good for u, no if u had an iq of around 130 ish then u would be smart enough to know that those tests inflate ur score.

People's IQ test scores are getting higher, but the standards (average, genius, etc) for those scores tend to stay the same.

It's not that people are getting smarter, people are just learning to take standardized tests. Thank you NCLB.
