The BEST bait, depends on what baits that are available to you, What type of catfish you are after,as well as what you can legally use as bait.

I live in south Floirida & have several baits that i use, to regularly catch catfish. they include small pieces of bluegill, grass shrimp, cut up shiners, raw-frozen shrimp (type of shrimp that you can buy at the grocery store ), as well as live worms.

depending on where you are fishing, have your bait on or close to the bottom.

in moving water, i have caughtr many catfish, with bait 3-4' below a bobber & close to tree tops or brush piles that are in the water

i have tried many types of other baits, but for me, these have worked best.

    Good luck

I like cut bait for catfishing because it releases scent into the water quicker than whole fish. Shiners make good catfish bait either whole or cut up. Just make sure to fish your bait on or near the bottom. Tight lines!!!

Some of the catfish around here won't eat dead bait so the best is a small green perch with a hook in it.

The rest of the catfish will eat anything like liver, shrimps, pieces of dead jackrabbit etc.

Cut bait soaked in scents is always good. However, I've also had success using the dough-like baits. They come in plastic packages and smell really bad. There are many flavors, but I use the blood flavored one.

it depends if you use light line and a slip bobber you can use crickets and if you use big poles and weights then i would go with cut bait
