Survey: Which do you prefer to cook with? Gas or electric?
I HATE my electric stove! I'm ready to convert to good ol' gas.

gas is so much easier to control the temp, and when you turn it off you can leave the pan right where it is, with electric, it stays hot, so you have to move it which isn't always easy if you're cooking a lot of different things at once

I know you asked specifically for a gas or electric answer, But I think you should switch to charcoal, cooking any time you have the option... Gas cooking should be secondary and electric cooking should be a last resort
Charcoal is made from wood, and different woods will impart different flavors. Gourmet cooking at its best...
If you thought cooking with charcoal was a hassle then look at the Charcoal Island Grille.
its ready to cook in 10 minutes and cleans up like a kitchen sink.

I don't mind cooking with either, although gas took some getting used to (cooks hotter and faster).
I don't like the smell of the gas stove, and I don't like the "whoosh" sound of the gas oven. My old electric range didn't do either - I miss that.

I have always had gas. I am going to try electric. The past our family had gas because it cost less to use. NOT ANY MORE! And gas appears Dirty to me also!

definitely gas.
electric stoves have "hot spots" and heat up in isolated locations in the frying pan. Also, if you have one of those stoves with removable eyes, then they are ALWAYS on an angle and when you are heating up oil (or other liquid) it slides to one side of the pan.
Electric stove eyes are great for burning food because of the isolated hot spots.
Not only is natural gas more effective for cooking, it is cleaner. Its byproduct is water.
