What makes you a top contributor?

top contributor badges are given to respectable individuals that show a great amount of knowledge on a particular section.for example,lets Say you've been answering questions in the pets section and you get a great deal of best answers from it,soon enough you'll get the top contributor badge.

for some,it may be some sort of a trophy.this is to say you are an expert in a paricular subject.

you get chosen a top contributor for having 10 percent of your overall answers as best answers.that means if you answered 100 question all in all and ten percent of your best answers are from a particular category,then you get to be a top contributor.

you may lose that badge after some time.you need to still show excellence on your category otherwise you'll lose that badge.

also,if you don't log in for at least once a month,you'll automatically lose it.you cannot answer questions from polls and surveys sections too otherwise you'll lose the badge.

If you get a lot of best answers in a certain category that can get you top contributor. If you keep answering questions in the same category then you will probably keep top contributor status. But if you move a way from the category or don't use yahoo answers for a few day your top contributor will go away.

More times than not, a Top Contributor badge shows up the people who vote for their own answers which isn't a bad thing, it just shows who participates to the maximum.
