my friend and i cant get along but i want to be her friend what should i do?

Just the statement I want to be her friend sends up a red flag. If you don't get along then get another friend. People have this thing where they say they are your friend as long as you serve a purpose for them. Like money, popularity, looks, fashion. That's not a true friend that is an aquaintance. Someone that you associate with. A true friend accepts you as you are. They will defend you to others and tell you that you are wrong. They will also protect you. Kinda like family.

Find someone else that likes you to hang with. And forget the drama.

If you cannot get along why do you want to be friends? Are you wanting a friendship so that you can use this person for something? People usually become friends because they do get along.

It's time to move on. If you guys can't get along now, what makes you think you two will hit it off anytime later in the future. This world is so big and filled with lots of people of all sorts. You may want to be her friend badly, but I'm sure there's many people who want to be you friend as well.

Ill say this, if you think it is worth the time, work, hassle, tears, arguing, frustration, then stay... But if you think its a permanent problem between you two... then leave...

Me and my best friend can not get along at times too...in fact, we just had a 'fight' last week. We are now back to normal, so sweetie, there is no reason to NOT be her friend anymore.Just try to avid the topics and convos that start arguments and disagreements between you guys.

and i was crushed but i realized that i had better friends that wouldn't leave me like she did, stay close to the ones that have always be there no matter what.
