Can I get wireless internet on my laptop without having a desktop computer?
I know that I can plug the ethernet cable into my laptop, but it is not long enough to reach the place I want to work on my laptop. My desktop is out for repair and may be out for some months.

yes! you can.
you dont need a desktop computer to have a cxn on your laptop, all you need to do is set up the connection (that depends on what version of windows you're on and the wireless modem/router that you're trying to connect to)

yea i think so just buy a wireless broadband router . Thats what i have for my Laptop, but then again my dad set it up for me.
so honestly i dont know just go to an electronics store and ask.
