What Are Some Great Songs From The Following Genres?
A couple of My Oldest Friends on Y!A and two of the most Intelligent, longstanding Members of our R&P Section's favorite Genres of Music are getting overlooked in the Metal Shuffle, and that's a shame cause they deserve better. I'm talkin about Prof Anger and Cinny, two of My oldest R&P Friends. Unfortunately I don't know much about the Music they like so to find out, and to stir some interest in the Genres in here, thought I'd ask for some recommendations.
So what are some good songs from these Genres..
Indie Rock
College Radio
Shoegaze
Dream Pop
Deathrock
Gothic Rock
Post-Rock
Post-Punk
Thanks for Your answers R&P

I would blush if I was light enough, haha. Thanks for the compliment.
I'll list one song each by 4 bands I feel are crucial to or at least good representatives of each genre. If you can't find those particular songs, then just try any by the bands suggested.
Shoegazing ;
My Bloody Valentine ; Only Shallow
Slowdive ; Spanish Air
Ride ; Dreams Burn Down
Chapterhouse ; Treasure
Dream Pop ;
Cocteau Twins ; Garlands
Mazzy Star ; Mary of Silence
This Mortal Coil ; Fyt
Lowlife ; Mother Tongue
Deathrock ;
Christian Death [fronted by Rozz, not Valor] ; Spritiual Cramp
Shadow Project ; Zaned People
Cinema Strange ; Laughing Bloody Murder
Alien Sex Fiend ; 30 Second Coma
Gothic Rock ;
The Sisters of Mercy ; Marian
Bauhaus ; Hollow Hills
Siouxsie and the Banshees ; Israel
Rosetta Stone ; The Witch
Post-Rock ;
Mogwai ; Kids Will Be Skeletons
Godspeed You! Black Emperor ; The Dead Flag Blues
Her Name is Calla ; Condor and River
Destroyalldreamers ; The Sky was Glorious for a Moment
Post-Punk ;
The Birthday Party ; Dead Joe
Joy Division ; Transmission
Orange Juice ; L.O.V.E. Love
Echo & the Bunnymen ; Happy Death Men
+ Manson, while I enjoy them, aren't Gothic Rock - not by a long stretch.

A lot of these genre terms will give you a massive headache after a while. The differences between some of them are rather vague and minuscule. There are several great songs that can fall under one or more of these terms. Here are some of the first that come to mind.
Indie Rock (no discernible difference from college radio, both have monotone DJ's and play the same type of music).
The New Pornographers - All for Swinging You Around
The Kills - U.R.A. Fever
Shoegaze
My Bloody Valentine - Soon
Lush - Undertow
Catherine Wheel - Black Metallic
Band Of Susans - It's Locked Away
Dream Pop (very close to shoegaze)
Cocteau Twins or Dead Can Dance, anything by either of these two bands is the textbook definition.
Death Rock
Christian Death - Burnt Offerings
Gothic Rock (borders VERY close to post punk)
Bauhaus - Kick In The Eye
Sisters of Mercy - This Corrosion
Post-Punk
Joy Division - Transmission
Post Rock
Sigur Rós - Hljómalind
Battles - Atlas

Indie is a great genre, you should check out The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Broken Social Scene and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
The only Dream Pop band I know of is The Chameleons. I haven't listened to them much but they seem pretty good. They remind me of a modern indie band

Indie Rock: Slow Hands by Interpol
Shoegaze: Soon by My Bloody Valentine
Dream Pop: Carolyne's Fingers by Cocteau Twins
Post-Punk: Warsaw by Joy Division
That's all the one's I know. And I have absolutely no clue what College Radio would be.

Just search for YouTube mixes as starting point. I don't really like any of these genres, but you could also check out podcasts (free download through iTunes). Just find a producer you like and check out their podcast (most popular house ones are by Hardwell, Tiesto, Avicii, Afrojack, Chuckie etc)

I'm an amateur fan of indie rock, but I'm also a little confused about what exactly defines it. But here's a few songs by Modest Mouse I like:

Edit:
I've had to put spaces in some of the links because you're only aloud to post 10 of them, so if you just copy it into the address bar and close the space it should work.
Edit 2:
I wish I could have been more help with more of the genres, but in most of them I'm just as behind as you are. Although I didn't see gothic rock on the list, I've heard a few good gothic bands, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Bauhaus, some from the Cure, Sisters of Mercy, but it looks like other people have picked up plenty for the gaping hole I left in my answer lol.
