Retaliation laws and higher education?

Regarding retaliation laws.... Let's say a doctoral student voiced a concern regarding harassment from another student. The administrator's following actions meet the definition of retaliation for a workplace setting.... could the injured student (that has original proofs of retaliation) file a lawsuit and get monetary restitution...or compensation?

Update:

actually, I am not very letigious (sp?)... in fact, my culture is one of non-resistance... amish roots. However, I am learning that tyranny does not require banner boosters to thrive; just people willing to let things slide...

also, you may change your mind when I mention the fact that this administrator and the program itself has come under scrutiny for being hostile towards certain minority groups.

matter-of fact; I volunteered to be on a quality improvement focus group.. but was denied. this same administrator quipped that I was probably turned down because I was not from the right "race"..

Absent a strict liablity lawsuit and some types of defamation suits ALL lawsuits require the essential element of damages... you have not indicated any liquidated and/or certain damages.

what is the basis of your legal action and why is there a need to be compensated with money? you speak in vague terms, too much info is missing and u assume u would win. ok u get a judgement, then u gotta collect, up how long. don't forget atty. fees and court cost if u lose or win. Y so litigious, everyone wants to sue. sad
