Could I have Tongue Cancer...pictures included...
Hi.
I seem to be convinced I have tongue cancer.
I had this bump for around 2 weeks now, and I went to the doctor and got 2 X-Rays and was sent to the specialist. The walk in doctor said it could be a tumor but he wasn't sure. At the specialist (ear, nose and throat) he wanted to give me a biopsy, then he changed his mind and put me on Amoxin for 10 days and told me to graggle warm salt water.
I am seeing him tomorrow and so far it has not gotten any better. I am so scared as it might be Tongue Cancer. It hurts when I swallow or yawn, but not when I talk or sing.
Someone has experienced this as well. here's the link :

It seems to me to be cancer.. I am so worried for I am only 14.
I will most likely do the biopsy and he will put me to sleep. Here are some images of it

Please; from the pictures and from that link, does it sound like tongue cancer...
I do not smoke or drink.
Thank you very much
ladyren; thanks, I am no longer with the walk in, but the specialist I am seeing tomorrow; this is my email: alison_nham@yahoo.com
if you can, please email me and I will keep you up to date :)
quijibored: if not, what do you think it is ?
Uh oh...
how long do mouth biopsies take ?
Will I be able to talk ?
Thanks !
SS : It's hard to not care about it, knowing that it is in my mouth and swallowing just reminds me of it. It's hard.
Oh and, the biopsies help the specialist figure what to prescribe me with right ?

It is ugly and I am sure very upsetting to you. The good news is that it does not look like cancer. I also doubt amoxin will help. You need to see a specialist (ENT or oral surgeon) and probably get a biopsy done. Biopsies done in the mouth are not fun but also are not a big deal procedure wise. You will have a sore mouth where the stitches are but you will be fine after a day or two. Waiting for the report is the hard part.
Not sure what it might be. Possibly a cyst?
An oral biopsy only takes about 10-15 minutes plus the time needed to numb your mouth up. It also depends on how many stitches, if any, will be necessary.
Good luck with this.

Short of a biopsy, sent then to a pathologist, the only way you will get a diagnosis is through this method.
Cancers are unusual in 14 year olds, and particularly soft tissue cancers. It sounds more like a cancre sore, particularly if it erupted rather suddenly. And Amox. is an antibiotic, useless against a cancre sore. Cold sores or cancre sores are caused by viruses, and they come and go, depending upon your immune system. Some people get them constantly, others rarely. So my suggestion is, that if it does not clear up in two weeks, return.... but go to a different doc...
edit. You photos are not clear, and frankly it doesn't look like a cold sore. But it doesn't look like cancer either.... sweetie, see a different doc.

i do no longer decide to look on the %...yet i will inform you top away that the tongue takes a protracted time to heal through fact in assessment to customary cuts interior the floor, which heal from the exterior in...the tongue is unquestionably a muscle, so it has to heal from the interior out, which will make it seem to no longer be therapeutic as promptly.
