Why have the survivors of flight 815 on ABC'sLost never considered salvaging and trying to sail the black rock

i know that it would be hard to get it to the beach, but, if you found a huge boat on an island you were stranded on, wouldnt you at least consider it?

Isn't it entrenched in the rock though? Not to mention that it's in the very middle of the island through the dense brush and forest, and it doesn't exactly look like it's in sailing condition. It's not like it was a small rowboat or anything either. I think they established that it isn't even remotely an option for them, but it does provide some supplies and deepens the mystery of the island for the plot.

they may have for one second but getting it back to the water would be nearly impossible. What they could have done is pull it apart and made another boat from the timber etc.
