Who is more deserving of this land? Garbage collectors or endangered tigers?
The city of San Benito, TX is evicting a lady who owns dozens of endangered animals from a barn she rents. She is a retired performer. They are letting the fairgrounds get converted into a waste dump. Hurricane Dolly decimated the area and there’s nowhere to go.

From reading your story and listening to the news report it seems you have twisted this a little. They are not making this a 'garbage dump' they are moving hurricane debris there to burn, not making it a land fill. Hurricane Dolly did not decimate the area- it was not a major storm there was not widespread devastation- there was damage but not to the degree you imply. This lady is renting the facility from the city- they may choose to evict her if they so choose. It is not like the owns the property and they are booting her out. I can't believe a city would rent a place like that in the first place it is such a liability, I would not let that happen in my city. Animals should be in their natural habitat not confined like this. This lady needs to go buy her own property and set up an endangered animal sanctuary (we have them all over Texas!) instead of renting a place where she can be evicted. I wish people like you would use your energy and outrage for a good cause (like humans!) rather than animals who have no business being caged up.

I haven't looked at your listed website, but my immediate reaction to such is regularly, "what is the WHOLE story, from ALL viewpoints?". Beyond that, I would say, in general, that BALANCE is the key - but we are not balanced, reasoning persons - we use our reason to get what we want, whether it is a long term goal, or, more likely, a short term gratification. On a ongoing basis, I'd say Garbage collectors are essential to MY ongoing health and happiness for sure - and not sure tigers qualify to be helping that. Look for balance.

It figures that it's in Texas. How stupid. But it could happen anywhere in retrospect. Of course the tigers are more important. It's just garbage. Do something else with it. This is America. Be creative. This shouldn't be an option.
