As with anything too much of a good thing can be bad. Yes it might lower cholesterol but it could increase the chance of liver problems. Tanons in red wine can cause migraines. What affects you may not affect me so who knows what your body would do after a while.

It is true...but not one glass, just about 20 ml.

Some alcohols binds to bad cholesterol...some raise the levels of good cholesterol.

Take it like a medicine, not like a drink. Alcohol does put tremendous pressure on the liver.

Other good sources that reduces bad cholesterol / increases good cholesterol are -

    1. PUFA oils - like olive oil, gingelly oil.

    2. Nuts.

    3. Soya chunks

    4. Cornflakes (it contains niacin - the plain one, w/o ne flavour)

    5. exercise.

    6. Oats

Drinking one glass of red wine can boost your good cholesterol, HDL. Any more than that and you run the risk of increasing bad cholesterol, LDL. The liver actually manufactures LDL and secretes LDL into your bloodstream. Play with your liver enough and you can really mess up cholesterol levels.

I'm not sure about lower your cholesterol, but I know red wine has antioxidants. You can get the same antioxidants from grapes, though... and that's much healthier

That's the theory. But the medical community comes out with these kinds of things every two weeks, and who knows if they're true? I mean, how many times have they changed their mind about eggs?
