She thinks she getting in touch with her base. A well off black person certaintly doesn't relate to the majority of the Democratic base. He'll get more votes being the poor black kid rising out of the ghetto to be president. It doesn't make a good story.

Because he did have a deprived Childhood.

Anyone who grows up without a Father is deprived.

But Obama still turned out OK, despite not having his Father in his life.
