I accidentally bought a SATA hard drive for a computer that only has connections for IDE hard drives.
Is there any kind of card I can get for my computer so I can plug in the SATA hard drive, or is it impossible to use this drive. My computer is running Windows XP, 1.7 Ghz processor.
I got the drive from ebay, and it's my fault I bought the wrong drive. Worst case scenerio, I can resell it on ebay. It is a 1 TB hard drive, so I can't just forget about it.

You can buy a SATA PCI card, or a HDD enclosure. I recently purchased a SATA enclosure for under $20. It just hooks your HDD to a USB port...

i imagine you want helping cables on the motherboard to connect a SATA demanding disk. even if it isn't already there, you could try searching a SATA card. Alternately , in case your computer has usb port, you could purchase an exterior usb casing for the SATA hd, and may connect it as an exernal hd.

you can buy a sata to ide converter it can come in a card for or cable form just check with your local computer store and they should have it.
