New type of Google Earth mapping??Re:Google Earth car!

I have just seen a car drive down my street,it had like a big periscope thing sticking out of the top of it and on the periscope it had at least 8 cameras, each one facing a different position. So it was basically taking a picture of the street from all angles and each side as it went down the street. The cameras were about the hight of my ground floor windows.Anyway the car said "Google mapping" on the side of it.So is this some kind of new mapping?were can i find out more about it and when will it be working? It looks like there mapping the whole of my town (Hull).Infact i'm sure i'll be on the map!as i was lookin out the window at it!So please were can i find out about the details? And does this not invade our privacy a bit?we don't have net curtains and it basically looked straight into my house!Anyway its info on this i need please!links if possible,cheers-Paul.

(Ps have nay of you guys seen the google mapping car??)

I haven't seen one, but a technology program called Click and someone had seen the google car and sent it in to the show.

Its a new thing from google called streetview its already in America. They are going erase people out of it so it doesn't break the law. Why don't they just take the photos at night

Yes, I've seen it around where I live.

It's for a project called Streetview that will allow people to see street level pictures of an area as part of Google maps. A lot of people in the US (where it is already in use) are not happy about the privacy issues, and a lot of people have concerns about their security.

Quite a few people over in the UK have expressed similar concerns but they appear to have been ignored. There is a register article on it in the link below:

Sorry to disappoint you. You will not be famous, you will either be pixled or airbrushed out if your in them! Also pictures seeing into properties will be altered.

This is due to the Right to Privacy Laws under the Data Protection Act of 1998 and under Article 8 of The Human Rights Act 1998 EU Provision.

Google Earth lets you view Earth from all angles thanks to a combination of satellite photos and aerial images.
