There's so many styles and sizes of pulpits. Browse through some pics so you have an idea of what you want it terms of style. Then look at your space and measure up the floor area you can use so that you have a good idea of what you want.
Then draw on a piece of paper the basic style and ask a wood or plexiglass crafter the same question. You'll get a way better answer.
