Why do the men play 5 sets in the majors & women only play 3 sets.

Well in the past they when they changed the scoring system the dominant and most watched was the men so they put it in 5 sets for more tennis. While women were the least favorite to watch and only made them play 3 sets. Its mainly about audience so they can watch more. But now its different both men and women matches are now being watched.

Women physically could play 5 sets, but like sharapova once said that if she played 3 out of 5 sets, there better be an ambulance outside when she's done. I think its more tiring on a women's body to try to play that much, but i also think it's possible, if women really wanted to.

Exactly, why?

Especially the mens game these days at other tournaments only do best of 3 now. So, if slams is only time best of 5, why not do the same with the women, this way it does appear 'equal".

I know it's unfair but that's the way people these days think. They don't think the women can play as much as the men and that they'll wear down, but I think they can do it.

They also get the same amount of prize money!
