what makes BG44K shop only use?

Looks like this is a gas additive. I'm just wondering why it is a shop only product? I usually do my own oil changes. What is it, and is it worth going to a shop for.

    looks like just another snake oil fuel additive to me. Pep Boys sells Techron from Chevron that has identical claims for under $10. Techron is already in Chevron gasoline but you can buy extra if you like.

    All of these products have anecdotal evidence, no scientific to back them up, just like Slick 50.
