Do you say thanks or thank you?

Me: thanks...i get nervous when i say thank you...

    Depends on what its for...if its something small I say thanks, if its something big I say thank you, if its something HUGE, I say Thank you very much.

    It depends on the situation. I say thanx when its more casual..

    If my friend buys be a coffe then I say "thanx"

    If I get a laptop for my birthday I say "thank you"

    well when i say "thanks" its more of a casual thing that just naturally comes out. but if it's with enthusiasm, or i'm trying extra hard to be polite, then i say "thank you"
