Traveling in winter to Belgium essential clothing?

Hi, i'm going to Belgium this winter (October to February) and i was wondering what were the essentials in clothing that i should. I mean, jackets? what kind? will jeans be good enough to stand the cold? any kind of shoes would be better?

I have never gone anywhere with snow so i would really appreciate the help

It's been a long time since Belgium has had a seriously bad winter. I can count the times it snowed last year on one hand.

The main things you'll encounter weather wise are rain, and cold. It rarely goes far below 0°C but it does get windy. It usually doesn't start to get really cold untill November, January probably has the worst weather.

You should get a warm lined (long) coat, jeans or skirts with tights or leggings are fine, any type of decent closed shoes will do. If you're not used to the cold then you should also get a hat, scarf and gloves. Wear layers. People here usually don't wear thermal underwear, but if you're used to tropical temperatures then you might want them.

And get an umbrella, but get a cheap one. When it gets windy they unfortunately don't last long...

You'll be able to get all of this in Belgium so if you're missing anything, just buy it when you arrive.

I went in January of 2005... I was fine with just some jeans, thermal shirts, and a coat. I'd also recommend some cute boots though, I didn't have any, but they would have kept me much warmer. The waffles really are as good as you'd expect and covered in about every delicious thing you can imagine... there's chocolate shops everywhere and the people are all nice. The only thing I didn't like about Belgium was the Chinese food, lol. Have fun!

Jeans will probably be enough. But winter coats. It's about the same as the Northern Atlantic Coast of the US. New York, Massachussetts, something like there.

Boots that are somewhat like these:

    Thick, nice, light-weight, comfortable.

As for pants, you can just wear some jeans. Wear thermals inside of it so you won't go that cold.

Jackets, well you should wear a shirt inside, a sweater, and then a some-what light weight snow coat. Nothing too big.

    Don't forget your scarf

I feel that skirts tend to either look kind of trashy or cheap if they are tight and short, or they may be just the ordinary jean skirts that aren't necessarily sexy.

Try maxi dresses with the relative side slits those will look great on you! No matter whether you have long legs or not merely strut that skirt

Jeans are ok, don't forget raincoats, it rains quite a lot (even now!)

Warm jumpers, socks and a few pairs of shoes ,

It's not very different than in England

I fully agree with "Gober" and most others (no, Belgium is definitely not as cold as US East coast).

Very cold days are few, but it can be very rainy, and thick coats need a while before they dry.

It's very similar weather to the UK weather or like the weather in a mild winter in Oregon if you are from the USA.

Make sure you take plenty of boob tubes and mini skirts. 6 inch heels will be good for walking in the snow, and booty shorts will be warm and comfortable.
