    Lassie, it ran from 1954 thru 1972. Completing 588 episodes.

    Second longest running drama is Law and Order which I have never watched. The longest running comedy is the Simpsons.. in their 19th season.

    For episodes, it was Lassie with 588, but for seasons it was/is "The Simpsons" with the 20th season on the way this fall.
