I don't know much about how that works in the States or what's involved in designating landmark status to something, but yeah, I think it should at the very least be recognised as an area of cultural significance.

I'm betting it won't be though.

I think it should be considered a City Landmark. It's the birth of Hip Hop. As others said before me, more than likely it wouldn't be recognized as a City Landmark. It's sad that they are trying to kick the residents out in order to get higher rent.

If Diddy can get on the Hollywood Walk of Fame someone in NY had better start pushing that spot to have some type of designation. I think if the folks in NY start to make noise about it everyone else will jump on the wagon, but it would have to start in NY.

Sedgwick Ave?? Man, that's literally walking distance from where *I* grew up in Da Bronx!

  • I think it should be a NATIONAL Landmark. Eventually the world is going to have to recognize the importance and worldwide influence of Hip-Hop music. "They used to do it in the park, do it after dark..."

Best answer goes to Bonnie. She said it perfectly. I think it should be but lets face it, due to the largely black and brown nature of the art, it's doubtful that it happens.

Yes it should be and they should start a RHH walk of fame near there...

    Agree with Bonnie.

    Should, but won't.
