    There is no "proper" length for a billiard cue.....period.

    One of my cues is just a smidge over 58" from base to tip.

    Due to armspan being roughly the same as your height a good rule of thumb is chin height. With a head of a further foot a 58 inch cue would suit a man of 5'10", which is an average height and so would suit most people and is therefor the standard size. Anyone much taller, as in a good bit over 6 feet tall, would be a bit squashed up in their bridge and stance with this length cue and would probably feel more comfortable with a longer cue.

    standard for a pool cue is (58 inch)

    standard for a billiard cue is (57 inch)

    standard for a snooker cue is (60 inch)

    this is standard not absolute.

    58" is the standard give or take an inch depending on the manufacturer.
