95 toyota corolla grinding noise?

my car has been making a grinding noise but only when i'm in reverse and when i turn the wheel left i had no idea what it was so i just took it to midas thinking maybe it might have to do with brakes or something they told me that my rear left side drum needs to be replaced would that be the reason it doesn't really sound right to me and i'd prefer to get the right thing fixed it doesn't make the grinding noise when i brake either!

Yeah, I dont see why they would just recommend one drum to replace. Something like that I would replace as a pair, with new brake shoes"that is what's inside the drum". If you come to the conclusion that the rear brakes is the problem, you can price 2 rear drum brakes, and shoes to match at a local part store. See about getting it all installed at a local shop also and compare to what midas is charging for. Ask midas about a complete rear brake service.
