they go into the data base
Probably if the site is ever deleted by Yahoo

Y!A has only been around for less than three years, I think. I've got two year old questions and answers that are still in the system. I don't know of any plans to delete the oldies.

When the question is resolved it goes, but stays in your profile, though I don't know for how long.
